Quanta Computer Selects AMCC's QT2025 10GbE PHY for Its High Density Switching Platform
Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (NASDAQ:AMCC), a global leader in
optical transport, embedded Power Architecture™
processing and storage solutions, announced today that Quanta Computer
Inc. has selected AMCC’s QT2025 10GbE PHY for
its new 10Gbps high density switching platform. Taiwan-based Quanta
Computer, one of the world’s largest ODMs,
develops products for notebook computers, enterprise network systems,
home entertainment, mobile communications, automotive electronics and
digital home markets.
The AMCC QT2025 10GbE PHY device enables the new Quanta switching
platform to deliver very high density and leading performance in a small
form factor with lower power dissipation. AMCC’s
QT2025 is the industry's first SFI-to-XAUI PHY with electronic
dispersion compensation (EDC) that supports 10GBASE-LRM, 10GBASE-LR,
10GBASE-SR and 10GBASE-KR. The QT2025 is also capable of driving 15
meter copper links using low-cost Infiniband™
1x twinax cable, allowing 10GE board-to-board and rack-to-rack links to
be realized without the need of optical fibre and optical modules. The
QT2025’s highly sophisticated SFI receiver and
transmitter are used to equalize the impairments over this inexpensive
medium, providing a more cost-effective and elegant alternative to CX4
cabling for data center and stacking applications.
The Quanta switching platform provides a high density number of SFP+
ports and is designed for enterprise and datacenter applications. It
will be available with several density options.
"The proven performance of our QT2025 10Gbps
PHY was a key factor in reducing the time-to-market for Quanta’s
new high density switching platform,” said
Neal Neslusan Director of Transport Marketing at AMCC. "This
new product from Quanta is the latest example of the increasingly rapid
rate of customer adoption of AMCC’s market
leading 10GbE PHYs.” "The 10GbE PHY is a critical component in our
new high density switching platform, therefore we had very strict
selection guidelines,” noted Mike Yang,
General Manager and Vice President of Quanta Computer, Inc. "AMCC
met all of these requirements with their understanding of the high
density system challenges, the performance of the chip and their turnkey
solution. They were big differentiators in helping us meet our overall
project cost, scheduling and performance guidelines.” For more information on AMCC transport products: http://www.amcc.com/products/transport.html About AMCC
