Prudential Financial Posts Lower Q3 Profit

(RTTNews) - Prudential Financial, Inc. (PRU) reported net income for its Financial Services Businesses for third quarter of $465 million or $0.99 per share, compared to $966 million or $2.04 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Adjusted operating income for the Financial Services Businesses for the third quarter was $1.03 billion or $2.20 per share, compared to $1.37 billion or $2.89 per share in the prior year quarter.

Total Financial Services Businesses revenue rose to $11.77 billion from $10.78 billion a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $2.41 per share on revenue of $11.38 billion for the third quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
