Prudential 2015 IFRS Profit Rises - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Prudential PLC (PRU.L, PUK) reported profit before tax attributable to shareholders of 3.15 billion pounds for the year ended 31 December 2015, compared to 2.61 billion pounds, previous year. Profit for the year attributable to equity holders increased to 2.58 billion pounds from 2.22 billion pounds. Earnings per share was 100.9 pence compared to 86.8 pence.

Group IFRS operating profit based on longer-term investment returns increased by 22 percent in 2015 to 4.01 billion pounds. On an actual exchange rate basis, the Group's IFRS operating profit grew by 26 percent.

On European Embedded Value or EEV Basis, profit for the year attributable to equity holders of the company, was 3.95 billion pounds compared to 4.34 billion pounds, previous year. Basic earnings per share was 154.8 pence compared to 170.4 pence. On EEV basis, EEV operating profit was 4.88 billion pounds, an increase of 16 percent.

Gross premiums earned was 36.66 billion pounds, compared to 32.83 billion pounds, previous year. Total revenue, net of reinsurance, decreased to 41.30 billion pounds from 60.13 billion pounds.

The Board of Prudential has decided to increase the full-year ordinary dividend by 5 percent to 38.78 pence per share. The directors have approved a second interim ordinary dividend of 26.47 pence per share, which brings the total ordinary dividend for the year to 38.78 pence. In addition, the Board has decided to award a special dividend of 10 pence per share.

From 2016, Prudential will make twice-yearly interim dividend payments to replace final / interim dividend.
