Praxair Surface Technologies Grows in Singapore

Praxair Surface Technologies, Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiary of Praxair, Inc. (NYSE: PX), recently opened a new coating manufacturing facility in Singapore to support increasing demand for coatings used in aviation and energy markets.

The facility has started up operations by providing thermal spray coatings for gate valve and other critical components used in oil and natural gas production. Additional capabilities to enable service for aviation and industrial gas turbine markets applications are also planned.

"We are pleased that Praxair Surface Technologies has chosen Singapore to locate another of its world-class coating facilities,” said Lim Kok Kiang, director of Transport Engineering at the Singapore Economic Development Board. "Through this expansion, Praxair Surface Technologies will be able to serve its key customers in the region more effectively, and further enhance its position as the clear global leader in coatings manufacturing and technology for aviation and energy applications. This decision reflects the strong partnership between Singapore and Praxair Surface Technologies, and we are confident that PST will enjoy a successful future here.”

"Praxair is committed to providing our customers with the best products and latest technologies that will aid their continued growth and competitiveness in the region where they do business,” said Pierre Lüthi, vice president of Praxair Surface Technologies for Asia and Europe. "Our local focus allows customers to reduce transportation costs while improving turnaround time of vital parts and assemblies.”

The new facility positions Praxair to provide coatings services in southeast Asia for manufacturers that are producing equipment components that benefit from a high-performance surface coating to protect against such performance problems as abrasion, corrosion, erosion, high temperature, and wear.

Praxair initiated coating operations in Singapore nearly 20 years ago. For approximately the last five years Praxair’s manufacturing capability in Singapore has been a dedicated coating center located with a major aircraft engine manufacturer. Praxair Surface Technologies has coatings operations around the world with Asian facilities located in China, India, Japan and South Korea.
