Plumtree Software Wins ''Best Enterprise Portal'' in InfoWorld's Technology of the Year Award The Plumtree Enterprise Web Suite is Recognized as One of InfoWorld's Hottest Technologies Impacting IT in 2005
Plumtree Software (Nasdaq:PLUM) today announced that the company is the recipient of InfoWorld's 2005 Technology of the Year award. The award recognizes the Plumtree Enterprise Web Suite as "Best Enterprise Portal" for its outstanding approach to Web application deployment. Plumtree was selected over IBM and Microsoft for its ease of integrating with applications. With the software industry moving towards a service-oriented architecture (SOA) approach to building applications, combining information and functionality from back-end systems becomes a critical factor when selecting a portal technology.
"InfoWorld reviewed every enterprise portal that matters last year, and Plumtree's Portal 5.0 was the best. It's easy on end users, easy on administrators, and friendly to both Java and .NET," said Doug Dineley, executive editor, Test Center at InfoWorld. "Best of all, its architecture, based entirely on Web services, facilitates the seamless integration of Plumtree's components, custom portlets and other applications."
"We are thrilled to be honored with InfoWorld's annual Technology of the Year award -- a strong recognition of Plumtree's leadership role in the portal market," said John Kunze, CEO of Plumtree Software. "Anticipating the growing importance of service-oriented architecture, we developed a sophisticated portal framework that provides centralized security and administration of Web applications on different systems within and outside the enterprise. This approach is cheaper, more flexible to change over time, and creates applications that are a better fit for our customers needs."
InfoWorld selected significant technologies that promise to make the greatest impact on enterprise IT strategies and products that best exemplify the implementation of those technologies. The final selections were made by InfoWorld's Test Center analysts and editors, based on the products reviewed in 2004.
