    ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 18, 2005--Paychex, Inc. today announced that the Paychex Board of Directors has appointed five new officers of the company. With these appointments, each of the executives has been promoted to the position of vice president from their previous role with Paychex, a leading national provider of payroll and human resource services.
    "These appointments are in recognition of the significant contributions these individuals make to the company and the scope of the responsibilities they have," said Paychex President and CEO Jonathan J. Judge. "Three of our new vice presidents run a major part of Paychex's new business generation. One manages the sales effort for a market that has been one of our most successful focuses in some time, and the other new vice president is a leader of our product management and development area."
    The five new Paychex vice presidents and company officers are as follows, in alphabetical order:

    -- Steven R. Beauchamp - Vice President, Product Management

    Beauchamp was named Director, Product Management for Paychex in 2003 following Paychex's acquisition of Advantage Payroll Services, Inc. in September 2002. Prior to that, he served as Vice President, Payroll Operations for Advantage. Beauchamp was previously president of Payroll Central, Inc., a regional payroll provider acquired by Advantage in 1999. Additionally, he held several positions with ADP Canada. Beauchamp holds an MBA from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

    -- Brad R. Flipse - Vice President, Major Market Services (MMS)
    Sales

    Flipse was named Area Vice President, Major Market Services Sales in 2002. Flipse leads the segment of Paychex's payroll business that serves the needs of larger businesses. In fiscal 2004, MMS generated approximately $140 million in revenue. He joined Paychex in 1993 as a payroll sales representative, and was recognized as the company's "rookie of the year" and number one sales representative that year. Flipse held several management positions before being promoted to Area Vice President. He holds a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Redlands in Redlands, California.

    -- Clifford Gibson - Vice President, Western U.S. Sales

    Gibson was named Area Vice President, Western Sales in 2002. He marks his 20th anniversary with Paychex this year, having joined the company as a payroll sales representative in 1985. Gibson held various management positions with the company before being named an Area Vice President. He holds a bachelor's degree in marketing and finance from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon.

    -- Michael A. McCarthy - Vice President, Eastern U.S. Sales

    McCarthy was named Area Vice President, Eastern Sales in 2002. He joined Paychex in 1990 as a District Sales Manager and held other sales management positions before being named an Area Vice President. Prior to joining Paychex, McCarthy was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Citigroup, Inc. McCarthy holds a doctorate in human resource development from UCLA in Los Angeles, California; as well as a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in economics from Northeastern University.

    -- Suzanne E. Vickery - Vice President, Central U.S. Sales

    Vickery was named Area Vice President, Central Sales in 2003. She joined Paychex in 1990 as a payroll sales representative. Vickery held various sales management positions with the company before being named an Area Vice President. Prior to joining Paychex, she was a high school history and health teacher in Atlanta, Georgia. Vickery holds a bachelor's degree in education from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia.
