Pampered Puppies: PetSmart Offers Same Day Delivery

(RTTNews) - PetSmart Inc. (PETM) has launched a revamped website that features home-delivery options such as same-day and scheduled delivery services. The company joins other major retailers like Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) by offering same-day delivery services to customers, as competition intensifies on the e-commerce front.

PetSmart's new redesigned, mobile-friendly website reflects feedback from pet parents and includes features such as one-page checkout and new tailored delivery options like recurring subscription-based shipping, scheduled delivery and same-day delivery.

The scheduled and same-day delivery services are provided by last-mile logistics provider Deliv, which already provides scheduled, same-day delivery and returns for omnichannel retailers, local businesses, and e-commerce companies.

PetSmart's new delivery options are featured directly on the product page. The same-day and scheduled delivery services - being rolled out now and by mid November - are expected in 17 major metro areas across the U.S. Delivery can be set within a few hours of purchase, and up to two days later.

PetSmart.com same-day and scheduled home delivery with Deliv is now available in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, San Jose, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Miami, Seattle and Chicago.

The company expects to launch the service in mid-November in Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Yonkers, Northern New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

PetSmart operates 1,477 pet stores in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, and 203 in-store PetSmart PetsHotel dog and cat boarding facilities.

PetSmart.com's technology platform is powered by SalesForce Commerce Cloud technology, previously known as Demandware. It has a mobile-desktop shared cart feature, where the items placed in the cart on the desktop and saved for future reference or purchase can be viewed via mobile devices, and vice versa.

Customers can schedule pet grooming and boarding services through PetSmart's new website. It also features an online in-store product availability system that enables shoppers to check store inventory to see if their local store has products in stock.

In the event products are not available in stores, the site features a store associate ordering system, where the products can be purchased online in the store and shipped directly to the customer's home for free.
