Norbert W. Young Jr. Named to the Associated General Contractors of America Industry Advisory Council

NEW YORK, March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- McGraw-Hill Construction's president, Norbert W. Young, Jr., has been named as an Owner Member of the Private/Public Industry Advisory Council (PIAC) of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). PIAC seeks owner members from major U.S. commercial and manufacturing firms, as well as public owners, to promote dialogue on issues including owner needs, market trends, research, contracting practices, and legislation. Through the PIAC, AGC can foster a construction industry that is more responsive to owners' needs.

"We saw McGraw-Hill Construction and Norbert as a perfect fit for the Council," said Council Chairman Rick Poppe, senior vice president, The Weitz Company. "McGraw-Hill Construction's long-standing leadership in the industry and Norbert's personal and extensive construction industry experience will enhance the PIAC's goal of dialogue between owners and the AGC."

Mr. Young has led McGraw-Hill Construction as its president since 1999, and joined The McGraw-Hill Companies in December 1997 as vice president, editorial, for Dodge. Prior to Dodge, he spent eight years with the Bovis Construction Group, a global leader in the management of high profile construction projects, and worked with notable clients such as the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, Bank of America, NYNEX, and Sun Microsystems. Mr. Young started his career in Philadelphia as an architect and is a Fellow of The America Institute of Architects and the International Alliance for Interoperability.

"I am honored to have been named to this prestigious Council," said Mr. Young. "McGraw-Hill Construction is committed to moving our industry forward, and I am passionate about leading that charge."

McGraw-Hill Construction was the first to offer industry news, project information and product information, beginning with James H. McGraw, Frederick W. Dodge and Clinton Sweet over 100 years ago. Today, it continues to lead the industry with projects, products, plans and specifications, and industry intelligence online and in print, providing valuable information on key industry trends, such as interoperability and sustainability.

AGC is the largest and oldest national construction trade association in the United States. It represents nearly 33,000 firms, and more than 13,000 service providers and suppliers are associated with AGC. The PIAC was established in October 1993 to provide a direct line of communication between private industry representatives and AGC, and today it includes public as well as private owner members.
