News Corporation and Panasonic Join Forces to Program Astrovision Screen in Times Square
News Corporation today announced the launch of its live programming on the giant Panasonic Astrovision Screen prominently located at One Times Square. News Corporation assumed control of the screen’s content from NBC on October 1, 2006. Panasonic Corporation of North America became a sub-lessee of the screen under News Corp.’s 10-year lease agreement with One Times Square. This new venture combines News Corporation’s premier news, sports and entertainment content with Panasonic’s world-class video technology to raise the bar for exciting visuals and graphics seen by millions of Times Square visitors every year. News Corp., using Panasonic’s Astrovision Screen technology, will deliver at least three hours of live programming daily, including an hour of FOX5’s "Good Day New York” from 7am to 8am, an hour of FOX News’ "FOX & Friends” from 8am to 9am, and an hour of FOX News’ "FOX Report with Shepard Smith” from 7pm to 8pm. News Corporation will also deliver live feeds from Fox Sports’ wide array of sports programming including Major League Baseball’s League Championship and World Series, the National Football League, NASCAR’s Daytona 500 and College Football’s Bowl Championship series. The remaining Astrovision programming space, which operates from 7am to 2am daily, will offer an outstanding promotional platform for News Corp. content, Panasonic products, public service announcements and community outreach, as well as serve as a superb advertising opportunity for third parties.
