Mr. Fernando Moreira appointed as the General Manager & CEO of Cigna & CMC Life Insurance Company Limited
Cigna today announced that Mr. Fernando Moreira has been appointed to the position of General Manager & CEO for Cigna & CMC Life Insurance Company Limited, effective December 1, 2011. Mr. Moreira will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of Cigna’s Health Life & Accident (HL&A) business in China. He will also work closely with Cigna’s JV partner China Merchant Group to expand Cigna’s presence across China. His appointment is subject to CIRC (China Insurance Regulatory Commission) approval.

With over 20 years of international business experience, Mr. Moreira joins Cigna from HSBC Insurance where he served for 13 years, most recently as CEO for HSBC Insurance Brazil. Previously, Mr. Moreira held a number of senior roles in HSBC, including a two year assignment to Ping An Insurance Shanghai. Prior to HSBC, Mr. Moreira held a variety of management positions in Brazil and the U.S.
Mr. Moreira earned his engineering degrees from Escola Politectnica da USP in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Manufacturing Systems Engineering in the National Technological University, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
