Medbox Clients Lead the Way with Favorable Arizona Legal Ruling
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., July 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Medbox, Inc. (OTC Markets: MDBX) (www.medboxinc.com), a leader in providing industry specific consulting services and patented systems to the medical and retail industries, announced that its Arizona dispensary clients were just granted more time than initially allowed by state regulations to get their dispensaries up and running. Medbox's clients are lead plaintiffs in an injunction suit seeking extra time to open given legal and political challenges to the implementation of Arizona's Medical Marijuana Act. Other dispensaries later joined in the suit. Judge Randall Warner's ruling granting the plaintiffs' injunction request requires the Arizona Department of Health Services to renew the dispensaries' certificates for another year, and make new rules allowing dispensaries to apply to the agency for more time if needed, instead of coming back to Court.
"We knew our clients had been working hard to get their dispensaries open and operating, but some met with greater resistance than others in their local jurisdictions. Once we saw that problem unfolding, our instinct was to come to the aid of those clients who needed extra help. Our clients led the way in the injunction suit to get the state regulations changed," stated Vincent Mehdizadeh, Chief Operations Officer of Medbox, Inc. "We respect the work that ADHS did in making its rules initially. It became clear to us though that there were things that ADHS simply could not foresee. Holding diligent dispensary operators to a strict one-year time frame to get local jurisdiction approval was simply an undue burden on them. Going to court was the only way to get the legal relief that some of our clients needed."
Medbox was involved in Arizona's program at its very early stages, and submitted comments to ADHS during the rulemaking process.
"One of the things that distinguishes Medbox has been its commitment to the whole process from the agency rulemaking stage to helping clients get open and operating," Dr. Bruce Bedrick, Medbox CEO stated. "We are very pleased by Judge Warner's ruling and are gratified that it will help our clients move closer to their goals."
