McGraw-Hill Assessment and Reporting Unit Chosen to Provide Indiana Assessments and Online Parent Reports

NEW YORK, Oct. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The McGraw-Hill Assessment and Reporting unit was selected by Indiana to provide end-of-year summative assessments, known as the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) program, to more than 400,000 students in Grades 3 - 8. As part of this program, Indiana families will receive student reports and learning resources online, enabling families to gauge student progress earlier in the school year in support of their children's learning and achievement.

Under the two-year agreement with renewal options, McGraw-Hill Assessment and Reporting will provide ISTEP+ assessments for English/Language Arts and Mathematics in Grades 3 - 8, Science in Grades 5 - 7, and Social Studies in Grades 4, 6, and 8. The ISTEP+ testing windows have moved from fall to spring, enabling students to receive their results before the end of the school year and giving parents a strong picture of their children's current-year performance.

"Indiana's assessment program is a nationally recognized model for educational progress. We are honored to have the continued opportunity to work with Indiana to enhance student achievement and provide valuable support for the educational goals of the students, parents, and teachers statewide," said Mostafa Mehrabani, president, McGraw-Hill Assessment and Reporting.

McGraw-Hill Assessment and Reporting is composed of CTB/McGraw-Hill and The Grow Network/McGraw-Hill. CTB, a proven leader in educational research and assessment, has collaborated with Indiana on its statewide assessment program since its inception and has demonstrated a long-term commitment to the State's educational community. The Grow Network's reporting and learning tools help bridge the gap between assessment and instruction, using extensive foundational research about instructional practice and family and student motivation.

To complement the ISTEP+ assessments, McGraw-Hill Assessment and Reporting will implement online reporting that will enable Indiana students, teachers and parents to receive immediate value from digital innovations:

* Online reporting of assessment results. By putting the school, school corporation, and state results online, Indiana educators and administrators will receive results more quickly and in an easy-to-use format to enable true data-driven instruction. * Online reports for parent access via the Parent Network. This online platform will give families access to assessment results weeks before printed student reports are available, as well as provide other educational resources year-round.
