Maric College - North Hollywood to Host Graduation for 124 Students

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Maric College - North Hollywood announced it will host a graduation ceremony for 124 students Thursday evening. The ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Glendale Hilton Hotel at 100 W. Glenoaks Blvd., in Glendale, Calif. State Sen. Jack Scott (D-Pasadena), Chair of the Senate Committee on Education of the California State Legislature, will keynote the ceremony.

Students will be recognized for earning diplomas in five allied health programs, including medical assistant, radiologic technology, diagnostic medical sonography, medical insurance specialist and x-ray technician/back office medical assistant. Upon graduation, students will be prepared for entry-level positions in their fields of study, many of which are in high demand throughout the state. According to the California Employment Development Department, Labor Market Information Division report on California Occupational Employment Projections 2006, medical assistant positions are expected to increase by 35.7 percent, radiologic technologist positions are expected to increase by 20.3 percent and diagnostic medical sonography positions are expected to increase by 27.6 percent from 2004 to 2014.

Thursday also marks the school's first day of class for its new Vocational Nursing program. The campus will be able to accommodate 30 students this fall in the program. Upon graduation, students may be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Vocational Nurses (NCLEX-VN). Maric College added the program at three locations, including North Hollywood, San Diego and North County - Vista to help address the state and nationwide nursing shortage. According to the California Employment Development Department, Labor Market Information Division report on California Occupational Employment Projections 2006, positions for licensed vocational and practical nurses in California are expected to increase by 20.9 percent from 2004 to 2014.

Maric College - North Hollywood is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). ACCSCT is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education. Maric College - North Hollywood offers five programs in allied health fields. The campus also offers three certificate programs, including Back Office Medical Assistant, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic Vascular Sonography.
