Maric College - Carson to Graduate 127 Students Friday Evening at Carson Community Center
CARSON, Calif., Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Maric College - Carson announced it will hold a graduation ceremony for its summer 2006 class on Friday, August 11, 2006. The commencement will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Carson Community Center at 801 East Carson Street in Carson, Calif.
The ceremony will recognize 127 students who have earned diplomas in career areas that are in high demand throughout the state. According to the California Employment Development Department, Labor Market Information Division report on California Occupational Employment Projections 2004, medical assistant positions are expected to increase 46 percent and massage therapist positions are expected to increase 23.7 percent from 2002 to 2012. Over one-half of the Maric College - Carson summer 2006 graduates earned diplomas qualifying them for entry-level positions in either massage therapy or medical assisting.
The Honorable Kelvin D. Filer will keynote Friday's ceremony. Filer practiced law for 13 years before becoming a judge in 1993. In 2002, he was appointed to the Los Angeles Superior Court. Filer grew up in Compton, Calif., achieved a bachelor's degree from the University of California - Santa Cruz and graduated from University of California - Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law.
Maric College - Carson is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continued Education and Training (ACCET). ACCET is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education. Maric College - Carson currently offers diplomas in four programs including Medical Assistant, Medical Coding and Billing, Pharmacy Technician and Massage Therapy. Maric College began offering the Pharmacy Technician program in March 2006 and will begin offering night courses for that program at the end of August 2006.
