Life Technologies Q3 Profit Surges

(RTTNews) - Life Technologies Corp. (LIFE) Tuesday reported third-quarter net income of $118.2 million or $0.67 per share, compared to $65.9 million or $0.37 per share last year.

Adjusted earnings for the quarter rose to $1.02 per share from $0.92 per share last year. On average, 17 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.97 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues for the quarter rose to $935.1 million from $911.2 million last year. Analysts estimated revenues of $926.1 million for the quarter.

The company said it will no longer provide guidance because of the previously announced merger agreement under which Thermo Fisher will acquire Life Technologies for $76.00 per share in cash.
