KEMET Recognizes FY06 United States Patent Recipients

GREENVILLE, S.C., June 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- KEMET Corporation recognized its FY06 United States patent recipients at its second annual Patent Awards Lunch on May 25, 2006. KEMET employees received six patents in the time period from April 2005 to March 2006. Patents awarded in FY06 include:

- Patent # 6,888,717: Working Electrolyte For Electrolytic Capacitors - John Tony Kinard, Brian John Melody, David Alexander Wheeler - Patent # 6,896,782: Capacitor Prepared From A Non-Aqueous Electrolyte - Brian John Melody, John Tony Kinard, David Alexander Wheeler, Philip Michael Lessner - Patent # 6,903,920: Clip-On Leadframe For Large Ceramic SMD - John D. Prymak - Patent # 6,906,907: Monolithic Multi-Layer Capacitor With Improved Lead-Out Structure - John D. Prymak, Michael Randall - Patent # 6,917,510: Extended Terminal Ceramic SMD - John D. Prymak - Patent # 6,939,774: Low Freezing Electrolyte For An Electrolytic Capacitor - Mark Edward Viste (Medtronic), Joachim Hossick-Schott (Medtronic), Zhi Fang (Medtronic), Brian John Melody, John Tony Kinard

Also recognized at the awards lunch were inventors on patents that were sold to a third party in FY06. These patents were related to methods for producing formed tantalum anodes for very-high-voltage capacitors. Inventors recognized were Keith Moore, Tony Kinard, and David Wheeler.

Brian Melody, who was key to several of these inventions, was honored with a special recognition award. Brian passed away in 2004; his widow, Anita Melody, accepted the award on his behalf.
