JDS Uniphase Q2 Results Miss Estimates; Q3 Outlook Weak

(RTTNews) - JDS Uniphase Corp. (JDSU) reported a net loss for the second quarter of $25.1 million or $0.11 per share, compared to net income of $8.8 million or $0.04 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted net income for the second quarter was $35.4 million or $0.15 per share, compared to $45.3 million or $0.19 per share in the prior year quarter.

Net revenue for the second quarter fell 2.3% to $437.1 million from $447.6 million a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.16 per share on revenue of $444.49 million for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Looking forward to the third quarter, the company forecasts adjusted net revenue of $418 million +/-10 million and adjusted earnings per share to be $0.09 +/-0.02. Analysts currently expect the company to earn $0.14 per share on revenue of $431.25 million for the third quarter.
