JanusINTECH Institutional Names Bill Barnes to Its Public Funds Team
Janus Capital Group Inc. (NYSE: JNS) has appointed Bill Barnes as vice president and director of Public Funds with JanusINTECH Institutional. Barnes succeeds Betsy Flavin who recently announced her intention to retire at the end of this year.
Barnes is responsible for marketing Janus, INTECH and Perkins, Wolf McDonnell-managed strategies to public funds in the western United States. He reports to Dan Charles, senior vice president and managing director of JanusINTECH Institutional.
"Bill brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Janus,” said Charles. "His extensive network of industry contacts will help us forge new relationships and should lead to continued growth in our institutional business.”
Barnes has more than 17 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Janus, Barnes spent six years at AXA Rosenberg, where he was responsible for sales and marketing in the public plan sponsor marketplace in the western United States. Prior to that, Barnes held various positions in institutional sales with Schroder Investment Management and Nomura Capital Management.

Barnes earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He also served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.
