International Rectifier Introduces Simulation Software for iMOTION Int

    EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 5, 2005--International Rectifier, IR(r) (NYSE:IRF), a world leader in power management technology, today introduced a new Web-based simulation tool for three-phase, variable-speed, motor drive inverter circuits. The new online tool simplifies recursive calculations and expands the design support for IR's iMOTION(tm) integrated design platform, a comprehensive approach to electronic motion control for appliances and industrial equipment.
    The simulation software is designed to calculate power losses and current ratings as a function of motor speed and modulation/switching frequency for all International Rectifier IRAM-series advanced integrated power modules (IPMs), and can be used to evaluate and compare the analog power stages in various operational conditions. In addition, a thermal analysis function verifies safe temperature operation area and heat-sink requirements.
