Intermec 700 Series mobile computers and Agentek Agent Field Service
application provide real-time customer information at Maytag's(R)
    point of service

Intermec Technologies Corp. and Agentek Inc. have completed the deployment of a real-time, wireless mobile computing system for Maytag Corp. The system is designed to capture and relay accurate data about customer history, parts information, credit card validation as well as service-call dispatch. Agentek's Agent Field Service and Agent Mobile Communications applications operating on Intermec 760 mobile computers interact in real time with the Maytag enterprise system for routing, dispatch, delivery, field data collection and order completion for approximately 800 routes.
The 700 Series mobile computers have powerful wireless communication options, the latest battery and display technology, and state-of-the-art computing speed and memory capabilities that will allow the company to improve distribution time, enhance customer service and increase the efficiency of its operations.
Service technicians will use the rugged handheld computers with GPRS wireless wide area network (WWAN) and integrated 802.11b wireless local area network (WLAN) radios for complete mobility. Trucks that operate in remote areas are supplemented with Wireless Matrix MBS satellite dome communications that work seamlessly with the Agentek software and Intermec handhelds to ensure complete network coverage. Maytag technicians also benefit from turn-by-turn, voice-directed driving directions on the 700 Series.
Maytag intends to roll out the system to all of its technicians as the company expands its "All Brand" service approach.
"Our desire to provide exceptional in-home service quality to our customers led us to seek out leading-edge technology for our service technicians," said Darin Endecott, director of Maytag's eastern factory service operations. "With the ever-increasing expectations of consumers, it is vital that our Maytag service professionals have real-time information on part availability and direction assistance, as well as other vital details housed in our data warehouse. Agentek's solution enables our team of service techs and contact center associates to provide a premier level of service."
"Agentek responded on all fronts in delivering a full turn-key solution from application and hardware to communications and training. They delivered on time and on budget. That was the key to success," said Craig Hansen, director of information technology at Maytag services.
"Using the Intermec 760 as the mobile work horse of the solution, we were able to provide a reliable and rugged handheld for the technicians. The ability to handle multiple wireless radios at once made real time a reality." said Erik Anderson, vice president of sales for Agentek. "Intermec stepped to the plate with support, training assistance and great teamwork to insure a successful implementation for Maytag."
"For more than 100 years, Maytag products have been synonymous with dependability and quality," said Intermec Vice President Mike Colwell. "Now with its new field service system it can be sure its customer, product and business data meets the same standard."
The Intermec 700 Series mobile computers withstand daily use in harsh environments. The Intermec 760 is powered by the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Pocket PC operating system, offering an unmatched range of communications options and the durability to handle the challenges of real-time daily work.
