Hillsdale College Welcomes Award-Winning Writer Joy Williams

HILLSDALE, Mich., Sept. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On Monday, September 25, and Tuesday, September 26, Hillsdale College will host author Joy Williams as part of its annual Visiting Writers Series presented by the English Department. Her lecture is titled, "Why I Write." Williams is the author of many works, including novels The Quick and the Dead and State of Grace and short story collections The Visiting Privilege and Ninety-Nine Stories of God. Williams will present both a reading from her work and a public lecture.

WHO:

Joy Williams is author of four novels – State of Grace, The Changeling, Breaking and Entering and The Quick and the Dead, – and five short story collections – Taking Care, Escapes, Honored Guest, The Visiting Privilege and Ninety-Nine Stories of God. She has also written a collection of essays titled Ill Nature: Rants and Reflections on Humanity and Other Animals. Williams is a recipient of the Harold and Mildred Strauss Living Award for the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story. Additionally, she was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction, the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the National Book Critics Circle Award for Criticism.
