Haverty Q3 Comps. Down 2.9% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc. (HVT) reported that its third-quarter sales decreased 1.9% to $207.6 million, compared with $211.7 million, prior year. On a comparable store basis, third-quarter sales were down 2.9%. Total written sales for the third quarter were down 3.5% and written comparable store sales decreased 4.2% over the same period last year.

For the first nine months of 2017, sales totaled $604.9 million, compared with $601.0 million, last year, representing an increase of 0.7%. On a comparable store basis, sales decreased 0.6% for the first nine months.

Clarence Smith, CEO, said, "The third quarter was one of our more challenging periods in recent years. Our sales results for the quarter as we entered September were slightly positive with written business running somewhat negative."
