Haverty Furniture Q3 Sales, Comps Up - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc. (HVT), a full-service home furnishings retailer, reported Friday that its third-quarter sales increased 0.8 percent to $211.7 million from $209.9 million last year.

On a comparable store basis, sales for the quarter rose 1.2 percent. Comparable store sales do not include locations opened, closed or otherwise non-comparable during the last 12 months.

Total written sales increased 2.6 percent and written comparable store sales rose 3.0 percent over the same period last year, driven by robust results around the major holidays and an ebbing during the remaining periods.

Clarence Smith, chairman, president and CEO, said, "The occasional, dining, accessories, and upholstery product categories led the year over year sales increases for the third quarter. Our in-home designers have helped increase sales of custom upholstery, rugs and other accessories, building larger sales tickets and significantly improving opportunities for repeat and referral business."

Sales for the first nine months totaled $601.0 million, an increase of 2 percent. On a comparable store basis, sales rose 1.9 percent.

The Company will release third quarter 2016 financial results on October 31.
