Guy Carpenter Appoints Chris Klein to Lead Newly Established Knowledge Management/Research & Development Group
Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, the leading global risk and reinsurance
specialist and a part of the Marsh & McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC),
today announced the appointment of Chris Klein as head of its newly
formed Business Intelligence Group/Research & Development Group. Mr.
Klein will be based in London, reporting to David Priebe, Head of Guy
Carpenter’s Global Specialty Operations.
"As leader of the Business Intelligence Group,
Chris’ expertise will be instrumental
developing our global knowledge management strategy and capabilities, as
well as executing global distribution of our research and thought
leadership,” said Mr. Priebe.
In addition to directing Guy Carpenter’s
overall Knowledge Management (KM) strategy, Mr. Klein will be
responsible for overseeing the collection of data, information and
secondary research, as well as packaging, distributing and sharing
intellectual capital globally. He also will manage and further develop
the firm’s Counter-party Credit Analysis and
Rating Agency Advisory capabilities and work closely with the Specialty
Practices, Capital Markets, Instrat®,
Solutions Group, Business Development and Marketing Groups to develop
and launch new products and services, and build new business
opportunities.
Mr. Klein joins Guy Carpenter from Benfield, where he was Head of
Counterparty Risk and a member of the company’s
Industry Analysis & Research Team, responsible for counterparty risk
analysis and a wide range of research on reinsurance issues. Prior to
joining Benfield in 1999, he was a founding director of the insurance
division at IBCA (now Fitch), where he was responsible for credit risk
analysis of Life and non-Life insurers and reinsurers. From 1994 to 1996
Mr. Klein was an executive equity partner at Quest Insurance Research, a
UK rating agency later acquired by IBCA. He spent several years in the
British Army after graduating from the University of York and Royal
Military Academy Sandhurst.
