Guy Carpenter Announces Executive Leadership Appointments In North America, UK and Europe

Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, the leading global risk and reinsurance specialist and part of the Marsh & McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC), today announced a number of changes to its executive leadership teams in North America, the United Kingdom and Europe, effective immediately. David Priebe, 47, has been named Head of Guy Carpenter’s Global Specialty Operations, based in New York, where he will oversee the firm’s 16 Specialty Practices, Instrat®modeling and actuarial unit, and the Business Development unit. Previously, Mr. Priebe was President and CEO of Guy Carpenter & Company, Ltd., where he was the head of Guy Carpenter’s UK and Continental European operations. He will report to David Spiller, Chief Executive Officer of Guy Carpenter, LLC. "Our organization works best when we integrate our local broking capabilities with our world-class Specialty operations. These leadership changes will enhance our ability to deliver better solutions for our clients,” said Mr. Spiller. Assuming Mr. Priebe’s former duties are Nick Frankland, 48, who has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of UK operations, and Andrew Marcell, 39, who has been named Chief Executive Officer of Continental European operations and head of Business Development and Specialty Practices within the UK and Continental European regions. Michael Handler, 59, has been appointed Non-Executive Chairman for Continental Europe. He previously was Regional Manager of Guy Carpenter’s operations in Continental Europe. Mr. Frankland has been with Guy Carpenter since 2004, most recently as Deputy CEO of the UK, responsible for the firm’s casualty book of business and business development within the region. Mr. Marcell, who joined Guy Carpenter in 1990, was most recently leader of the firm’s Worldwide Casualty Specialty Practices. In his new role, Mr. Marcell will be based in London. Both Mr. Frankland and Mr. Marcell will report to Geoffrey Bromley, Chairman of Europe and Asia Operations. "With Nick’s leadership in the UK and Andrew assuming guidance of our Continental European operations, we have assembled an outstanding leadership team that will enable us to further build on our considerable strengths and aggressively drive growth across the region,” said Mr. Bromley. The firm also announced today that Kevin Griffiths will replace Mr. Marcell as head of Guy Carpenter’s global Casualty Specialty Practices, effective immediately. Mr. Griffiths, 43, will be based in Philadelphia and report to Mr. Priebe. Brian Hanuschak, 46, will assume Mr. Griffiths’ role as Eastern Region Business Development Leader, while continuing to head Guy Carpenter’s Alternative Risk Transfer Specialty Practice. "Kevin brings a wealth of experience to his new position as head of the Casualty Specialty Practice, given his previous leadership roles in business development and other specialty practices,” said Mr. Priebe.
