Guy Carpenter Announces Executive Leadership Appointments In North America, UK and Europe
Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, the leading global risk and reinsurance
specialist and part of the Marsh & McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC), today
announced a number of changes to its executive leadership teams in North
America, the United Kingdom and Europe, effective immediately.
David Priebe, 47, has been named Head of Guy Carpenter’s
Global Specialty Operations, based in New York, where he will oversee
the firm’s 16 Specialty Practices, Instrat®modeling
and actuarial unit, and the Business Development unit. Previously, Mr.
Priebe was President and CEO of Guy Carpenter & Company, Ltd., where he
was the head of Guy Carpenter’s UK and
Continental European operations. He will report to David Spiller, Chief
Executive Officer of Guy Carpenter, LLC.
"Our organization works best when we integrate
our local broking capabilities with our world-class Specialty
operations. These leadership changes will enhance our ability to deliver
better solutions for our clients,” said Mr.
Spiller.
Assuming Mr. Priebe’s former duties are Nick
Frankland, 48, who has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of UK
operations, and Andrew Marcell, 39, who has been named Chief Executive
Officer of Continental European operations and head of Business
Development and Specialty Practices within the UK and Continental
European regions. Michael Handler, 59, has been appointed Non-Executive
Chairman for Continental Europe. He previously was Regional Manager of
Guy Carpenter’s operations in Continental
Europe.
Mr. Frankland has been with Guy Carpenter since 2004, most recently as
Deputy CEO of the UK, responsible for the firm’s
casualty book of business and business development within the region.
Mr. Marcell, who joined Guy Carpenter in 1990, was most recently leader
of the firm’s Worldwide Casualty Specialty
Practices. In his new role, Mr. Marcell will be based in London. Both
Mr. Frankland and Mr. Marcell will report to Geoffrey Bromley, Chairman
of Europe and Asia Operations.
"With Nick’s
leadership in the UK and Andrew assuming guidance of our Continental
European operations, we have assembled an outstanding leadership team
that will enable us to further build on our considerable strengths and
aggressively drive growth across the region,”
said Mr. Bromley.
The firm also announced today that Kevin Griffiths will replace Mr.
Marcell as head of Guy Carpenter’s global
Casualty Specialty Practices, effective immediately. Mr. Griffiths, 43,
will be based in Philadelphia and report to Mr. Priebe. Brian Hanuschak,
46, will assume Mr. Griffiths’ role as
Eastern Region Business Development Leader, while continuing to head Guy
Carpenter’s Alternative Risk Transfer
Specialty Practice.
"Kevin brings a wealth of experience to his
new position as head of the Casualty Specialty Practice, given his
previous leadership roles in business development and other specialty
practices,” said Mr. Priebe. "Brian
will also play a key role with prospects and existing clients as we
continue to expand our business in the Eastern Region.”
