Free Food Bringing Back Chipotle Fans?

(RTTNews) - Chipotle Mexican Grill is planning to give away free burritos as the restaurant chain strives to boost its sales that has been sluggish after outbreaks of E.coli, salmonella and norovirus at its restaurants.

Chipotle's reputation as well shares were hammered by an outbreak of E. coli that afflicted at least 53 people in nine states. That was followed by a norovirus contagion at a Boston location that sickened more than 140 college students. A new spate of illnesses in three additional states was announced by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention late December.

Chipotle's CFO Jack Hartung has revealed that the company has recovered nearly one-third of its sales after its free burrito campaign last month. The restaurant chain now plans to give away 21 million coupons for free food, along with buy-one-get-one-free offer coupons through emails to the US customers.
