Exponent Results Top Estimate

(RTTNews) - Exponent Inc (EXPO), an engineering and scientific consulting firm, Wednesday reported third-quarter net earnings of $11.04 million or $0.80 per share compared with $11.09 million or $0.79 per share last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.71 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues for the quarter were $78.6 million compared with $75.2 million in the prior year.

Revenues before reimbursements increased to $74.3 million from $70 million last year. Analysts estimated revenues of $72.3 million for the quarter.

For the full year, the company still expects revenues before reimbursement to grow in the low single digits, but raised expectations for the EBITDA margin to be about flat with fiscal 2013.

The company expects fourth-quarter revenues before reimbursement to be slightly down from last year, partly as the defense business will be hurt owing to the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
