BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 3, 2005--Esterline Corporation (NYSE:ESL) (www.esterline.com), a leading specialty manufacturer serving aerospace / defense markets, today announced that Richard Wood has been appointed as a Group Vice President. Wood most recently served as President of Esterline's Europe-based Sensors Group.
"Richard will add an international perspective to the officer group, from which we all expect to benefit," said Robert W. Cremin, Esterline CEO. "This perspective, together with his success in major business transactions, acquisition projects, and lean implementation, make me very confident that he will continue to help us build on our strategic opportunities, both externally and internally."
Wood joined with Esterline in 2003 Esterline's acquisition of the UK-based Weston Group where he served as Managing Director. He was subsequently promoted to head the larger Esterline Sensors Group, which includes Weston, France-based Auxitrol, and U.S.-based Norwich Aero, and Pressure Systems Inc.
Prior to Weston, Wood held executive positions in the IT, electronic components, and contract manufacturing industries. He also worked as a management consultant in a variety of industries for one of Europe's leading consultancies.
Wood holds a bachelor's degree in engineering science from the University of Durham in England, and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Wood, his wife Marie-Ange, and their two daughters will be moving from England to the Bellevue area following the end of the school year.
