Eric Paire Joins Guy Carpenter as European Solutions Group Leader; Laurent Dignat Named Head of European Capital Markets Team

Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, the leading global risk and reinsurance specialist and a part of the Marsh & McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC), today announced several key executive appointments underscoring the rapid expansion of the firm’s enterprise risk management (ERM) and capital markets capabilities. Eric Paire, 43, has been named Leader of Guy Carpenter’s European Solutions Group, and Laurent Dignat, who joined the firm earlier this year, will lead the European Capital Markets Team. Both executives will report to David Priebe, Head of Global Specialty Operations. "These high-level appointments demonstrate our commitment to bringing the best and most experienced professionals together and coordinating a global team focused on developing and deploying innovative solutions for our clients,” said Mr. Priebe. "The emerging world of enterprise risk management, including risk and capital management and utilization, has created new opportunities for Guy Carpenter in providing highly specialized advisory and execution services.” Based in Paris, Mr. Paire will be responsible for developing and coordinating Guy Carpenter initiatives for enterprise risk, capital management and corporate finance advisory aimed at assisting clients in Continental Europe and the UK in maximizing capacity, lowering capital cost and developing portfolio management strategies. In his new role, he will work closely with other groups within Guy Carpenter to build and develop the firm’s consultative and transactional capabilities, and ensure that clients throughout Europe benefit from these services. He also will become a member of Guy Carpenter International Board. Mr. Paire joins Guy Carpenter from NessPa Holding, a company he co-founded to manage reinsurance run-off. Previously, he participated in the creation and development of Nexgen Financial Solutions Ltd., which offered capital and risk management services to corporate and financial institutions, including derivatives, reinsurance and securitization, and was acquired by French bank Natixis. At Nexgen, Mr. Paire served as Managing Director of Nexgen Re and Head of insurance-related activities. Prior to joining Nexgen, he held several senior management positions at AXA Re, including Chairman of AXA Re Finance and CEO of AXA Re’s Paris office. Mr. Paire graduated from French Ecole Polytechnique, ENSAE (Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Economique) and is a fellow of the French Institute of Actuaries. Guy Carpenter also announced the appointments of Fred Morlaye and Jonathan Spry to the firm’s European Capital Markets Team, joining Managing Director Rachel Delhaise and reporting to Mr. Dignat. Mr. Morlaye was previously head of insurance capital advisory at Societe Generale and has significant banking and regulatory experience. Mr. Spry was formerly Director and Head of the Insurance Linked Securities team in the Insurance Ratings Group at Standard & Poor’s, where he was also a member of the Enterprise Risk Management team. Mr. Dignat and his team will focus on credit solutions, insurance securitization, collateralized reinsurance contracts and other alternative reinsurance solutions, including innovative contingent capital, structured risk management solutions and investment strategies, for European clients.
