Jean-Pierre Valenghi to become new Head of Real Estate at Baloise

Basel, 9 November 2021. Jean-Pierre Valenghi, CEO of newhome.ch, is to become the new Head of Real Estate at the Baloise Group. From January 2022, he will be responsible for the entire real estate business, with around CHF 9 billion in assets under management.  

'Baloise is one of the biggest institutional property owners in Switzerland. The real estate business of Baloise Asset Management AG has more than 60 employees who manage a portfolio comprising over 570 properties and 38,000 rental units. Given the strategic importance of the real estate business for the acquisition of external customer assets in the period to 2025, I am delighted to welcome Jean-Pierre Valenghi to Baloise. Following his success in building up newhome.ch into Switzerland's third-largest real estate portal, he will now apply his proven real estate management and business development skills to the evolution of Baloise,' says a delighted Matthias Henny, Chief Investment Officer of the Baloise Group.

Jean-Pierre Valenghi (Switzerland, 44) is a proven real estate strategy expert. He studied electrical engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, and management and economics at Zurich University. After joining the family business of Valenghi AG, where he worked for 14 years, Jean-Pierre Valenghi moved to PwC Switzerland. He worked there until 2013, holding several real estate functions, the last one being Head of Real Estate Consulting. Since 2013, he has been the CEO and CFO of newhome.ch and was responsible for setting up and developing the company into Switzerland's third-largest real estate portal.

Jean-Pierre Valenghi is married with two children and lives in Zurich with his husband.

Subject to the approval of FINMA, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority, Jean-Pierre Valenghi will take up his new role on 1 January 2022.
