Disney Q1 Results Trounce Estimates
(RTTNews) - Walt Disney Co. (DIS) reported net income for the first quarter of $2.18 billion or $1.27 per share, compared to $1.84 billion or $1.03 per share for the year-ago quarter.
The year-ago quarter results included $0.01 per share in charges mainly for an investment impairment and severance and contract termination costs.
Revenues for the first quarter rose 9% to $13.39 billion from $12.31 billion in the same quarter last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.07 per share on revenue of $12.87 billion for the first quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
