Munich, December 7, 2017 - Today, Wacker Chemie AG's Supervisory Board re-appointed Dr. Rudolf Staudigl (63), President & CEO, thereby considering Staudigl's request for a three-year term. The current contract of Rudolf Staudigl, who has led the Munich-based chemical company since 2008, expires on September 30, 2018. At the same time, the Supervisory Board extended the contract of Dr. Christian Hartel (46), who joined the Executive Board in 2015, until 2023. Hartel's current contract expires on October 31, 2018.

Dr. Peter-Alexander Wacker, WACKER's Supervisory Board Chairman, thanked Staudigl and Hartel for their commitment to the company. "Over the last few years, the Executive Board has successfully strengthened WACKER's international presence and continuously promoted the expansion of our sites in Europe, the Americas and Asia, thereby laying the foundations for the company's ongoing profitable growth," he said. "As CEO, Rudolf Staudigl - with more than 30 years' experience at WACKER - ensures that the Group continues to follow a sound strategic course," Wacker added.

Dr. Rudolf Staudigl studied chemistry at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich and obtained a Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat.) in chemistry in 1981. After research posts at Harvard University in Cambridge (Massachusetts, USA) and then Ludwig-Maximilians University, he joined Wacker Siltronic AG in 1983. He became vice president of Operations at Wacker Siltronic Corporation in Portland (Oregon, USA) in 1989, and president a year later. Dr. Staudigl joined Wacker Siltronic AG's Executive Board in 1993. In 1995, he was appointed to Wacker-Chemie GmbH's Executive Board. Since 2005, he has been an Executive Board member of Wacker Chemie AG and, in May 2008, he became president and CEO.

Christian Hartel
Dr. Christian Hartel studied chemistry at the University of Constance. After earning his doctorate at the universities of Geneva and Frankfurt am Main, he began his career in 2000 at management consultants Bain & Company. In 2003, he moved to Corporate Development at WACKER. After various management positions at WACKER BIOSOLUTIONS and WACKER SILICONES, he became head of Raw Materials Procurement in 2010 and president of WACKER SILICONES in 2012. In November 2015, Hartel was appointed to the Executive Board of Wacker Chemie AG.
