Denny's Tweet Blasts Non-Tippers

(RTTNews) - A joke about "non-tippers" on Denny's official Twitter feed has engendered backlash about the resturant's wages for all workers.

Denny's decided to make fun of customers who do not leave tips, implying that they have no "heart."

Critics of the restaurant chain were quick to point out that Denny's does not pay a "living wage."

Denny's servers earn an average of $5.43 per hour, according to employment recruiting site Glassdoor. That's not out of line in the U.S., where a tipping culture is expected to make up for low hourly wages.

However, line cooks make only $11 and managers are relatively underpaid as well, reports say.

It's not "Chris Christie on a beach," but it's a pretty big middle finger to customers and workers who toil for low wages. Cue the "egg all over Denny's face" quips..
