Comerica Chooses Arbor to Protect Its Nationwide Network

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2005--Arbor Networks(R), a leading provider of internal network security systems, today announced that Comerica (NYSE: CMA), has chosen Arbor Networks' Peakflow(R) X to protect its network from worms and cyber threats, and to ensure the highest level of security for its customers.
Comerica selected Peakflow X for its Worm Vaccine(TM) and Safe Quarantine(TM) capabilities, as well as its network-wide visualization of internal traffic. Worm Vaccine enables Comerica to proactively harden its network before new vulnerabilities are known. Safe Quarantine provides zero-day detection and mitigation, which stops network worms from propagating without interrupting the bank's critical services and business processes.
"Comerica is committed to providing our customers with the best financial solutions available today and offering them through the most secure network possible. We already have strong perimeter defenses, but as attacks become more complex and better able to circumvent the perimeter, bolstering internal defenses is quickly becoming necessary," said Scott Vowels, vice president of security architecture and engineering of Comerica. "We found that Peakflow X leverages our existing infrastructure to give us a clear view of our internal network, while protecting us from both known and unknown threats."
While today's fast-spreading worms have stymied traditional perimeter security products such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDSs) and traditional intrusion prevention systems (IPSs), Peakflow X addresses these challenges by detecting and mitigating threats without the use of signatures.
"Enterprise networks need internal intrusion prevention systems for real-time situational awareness to stop worms and to harden internal infrastructure," said Tom Schuster, president of Arbor Networks. "Peakflow is helping Comerica protect their infrastructure and consequently protect their customers."
Peakflow's real-time network wide situational awareness is the cornerstone for securing internal networks. With Peakflow, worms can be stopped in their tracks or even proactively prevented; networks can be hardened without disrupting the business; and insider misuse - even in the most complicated environments - can be detected and stopped.
