Chevy Volt Gets Major Price Slash for 2014 Model Year

PLAINFIELD, Ill., Aug. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Saving a few hundred dollars on a new car is a feat that garners some level of satisfaction when driving off the dealership. Saving thousands, however, will energize drivers every time they get behind the wheel.

With the recent news that Chevy will offer the 2014 Chevy Volt for $5,000 less than its predecessor, Illinois drivers can get more for less in the 2014 model year. Although the Chevy Volt already is recognized for its high percentage of satisfied customers, the major price reduction is expected to attract new customers to the plug-in vehicle segment.

"We have made great strides in reducing costs as we gain experience with electric vehicles and their components," said Don Johnson, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet sales and service. "In fact, the Volt has seen an increase in battery range and the addition of creature comforts, such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel and MyLink, since its launch in 2010."

While the Volt continues to evolve, drivers have more opportunities to save money on the cost of the Chevy's extended range EV with Chevy Volt tax incentives. By taking advantage of federal tax credits, Volt owners can recover up to $7,500 for choosing the eco-conscious vehicle. Beyond the federal incentives, Illinois Volt owners can apply for state tax rebates of more than $3,000.

For many drivers, the up-front cost of plug-in vehicles prevents them from jumping into the realm of alternative fuel vehicles. As Chevy continues to drive down the cost of the Chevy Volt and new car owners begin taking advantage of state and federal tax incentives, the long-term fuel savings make up for the cost of the vehicle in a much shorter time span.

Illinois car shoppers who want to further understand the available tax credits or are looking for a way to finance a new car with bad credit can talk with the Bill Jacobs Plainfield team of financial specialists. With their help, new car shoppers are on the right track to major savings on a new car.
