Chemung Financial Appoints Anders Tomson As CEO, Effective Immediately

(RTTNews) - Chemung Financial Corp. (CHMG) announced Thursday the appointment of Anders Tomson as President and Chief Executive Officer of the company and its banking unit Chemung Canal Trust Co. effective immediately.

Tomson, 49, replaces Ronald Bentley who retired as CEO on December 22. The transition had been previously announced in May at the annual shareholders' meeting.

Tomson was also elected to the Board of Directors of Chemung Financial and Chemung Canal Trust. He will stand for shareholder election at the Corp.'s annual shareholders' meeting in May 2017.

In July 2015 Tomson was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Chemung Canal Trust as part of a succession plan anticipating Bentley's retirement.

Since that time Tomson has led the retail client division of Chemung Canal Trust, overseeing the 33 branch network.

Bentley joined Chemung Canal as President and Chief Operating Officer in July 2006 and was promoted to President and CEO in April 2007. Bentley will remain on the Board of Directors after retiring as CEO. Additionally, he will remain a part-time employee of Chemung Canal Trust to serve as an advisor.
