Bracewell Adds Prominent Government Contracts Partner Angela B. Styles in Washington, DC; Continues Expansion of DC Office

WASHINGTON, Oct. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Bracewell LLP is pleased to announce that Angela B. Styles has joined the firm's Washington, DC office as a partner in the government contracts practice. Styles was previously with Crowell & Moring LLP, where she was a partner for more than 10 years, chaired the firm's government contracts practice and most recently served as firm chair.

Styles is one of the leading government contracts lawyers in the United States. Her practice focuses on government contracts counseling and litigation, including extensive experience with suspension and debarment, procurement ethics and compliance, civil fraud matters under the False Claims Act, mandatory disclosure, procurement integrity, the Anti-Kickback Act, GSA and VA schedule contracting and leasing, the National Lab Complex and compliance with the Buy American and Trade Agreements Act. For the last 10 years, Styles has been nationally ranked as a top government contracts lawyer in Chambers USA, with clients describing her as "very sharp" and "extremely knowledgeable."

"Angela is an exceptional practitioner with decades of experience in government contracts matters," said Bracewell Managing Partner Gregory M. Bopp. "Her proven leadership and expertise will be of great benefit to the firm and our clients. We are thrilled to welcome Angela to Bracewell."

Styles is the fourth in a series of strategic partner hires in Bracewell's Washington, DC office in the last eight months. In March, Robert J. Wagman Jr.joined Bracewell to establish the firm's government contracts practice. He will work with Styles on the continued expansion of that practice. Other recent partner hires include David A. Super, who joined Bracewell in July to lead the civil litigation practice in DC; and Hans P. Dyke, who joined in April as a partner in the energy projects practice.

"Angela and I have known each other professionally for more than 20 years," said Mark K. Lewis, managing partner of Bracewell's Washington, DC office. "She is one of the most highly respected and well-known government contracts practitioners. Angela's experience and relationships, both in private practice and the government, will strengthen Bracewell's ability to help our clients address the legal and regulatory issues associated with interfacing with the federal government."

Styles held key government positions within President George W. Bush's administration. She was the Administrator for Federal Procurement Policy within the Office of Management and Budget at the White House, a position that required U.S. Senate confirmation. In addition, she served in the General Services Administration Public Buildings Service in a Senior Executive Service appointment. Styles has testified about complex federal procurement issues at more than 30 hearings before the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. The relationships she established through these positions and as a leading resource in the field consistently enable Styles to solve complex client problems efficiently and without litigation.

"Angela brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our government contracts practice," said Wagman, who has known Styles for several years, including for a period of time when they were previously colleagues. "I look forward to building Bracewell's government contracts practice collaboratively with Angela. Her unique understanding of the ins and outs of Washington gives her a unique business perspective on the issues faced by companies doing business with the government."

"I'm excited to devote more time to working with my government contract clients and expanding government contracts work for existing Bracewell clients. I can imagine no better place to do so than Bracewell," said Styles. "Bracewell has successfully retained its authentic culture as it continues to grow to better serve the needs of its clients with an important strategic focus on energy and technology. I look forward to working with Bob and others in establishing Bracewell as a firm of choice for government contracts work."

Styles graduated with a B.A. with honors from the University of Virginia in 1990 and received her J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law in 1994. She has received numerous leadership awards throughout her career and is a frequent commentator in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, National Public Radio and C-SPAN's "Washington Journal."
