Boston Beer Profit Rises As Sales Jump 34% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Boston Beer Co. Inc. (SAM) Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $18 million or $1.33 per share compared with $16.9 million or $1.25 per share last year.

Net revenues for the quarter were up 34% at $205.4 million compared with $153 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $1.51 per share on revenues of $193.3 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Shipment volumes for the quarter were higher at 943 thousand barrels versus 733 thousand barrels a year ago.

Looking ahead to fiscal year 2014, the company expects earnings of $6.00 to $6.40. Analysts expect earnings of $6.47 per share.

The company estimates of 2014 capital spending between $160 million and $220 million.
