Bank of America Announces Additional $200,000 to Aid Victims of Devastating Tornadoes in Alabama
Bank of America today announced $200,000 to support those affected by recent tornadoes in Alabama. The American Red Cross will receive $100,000 for immediate relief needs and the West Alabama Food Bank and United Way of Central Alabama will each receive $50,000 for short-term and long-term recovery efforts.
This support is in addition to the $560,000 contributed to aid victims of the tornadoes that swept across the Southern and Eastern United States in recent weeks and part of the more than $2 million that has been contributed this year to support disaster relief needs across their global footprint.
"We extend our heartfelt sympathies to individuals and families impacted by these disasters, as well as our Bank of America Merrill Lynch employees living in Alabama,” said Kerry Sullivan, president of the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. "As the victims of these storms begin to rebuild their lives and their cities, they will need immediate assistance from organizations and individuals to address both immediate and long-term needs.”
In addition, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation will match employee pledges through the bank’s Matching Gifts program and will not limit its overall relief donation.
