Baker Hughes Q2 Well Count Up 4% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Oilfield services provider Baker Hughes Inc.'s (BHI) U.S. onshore well count for the second quarter totaled 9,394 wells, up 4 percent year-over-year, while it was up 5 percent sequentially. The average US onshore rig count was 1,796 rigs, up 5 percent, year-over-year. Compared with the sequential quarter, the well count increased notably in the Permian basin, Marcellus and Granite Wash. This increase was slightly offset by decreases predominately in the Barnett and Cana Woodford. On average, the US onshore rig fleet produced 5.23 new wells during the quarter, which represents a slight improvement in drilling efficiency compared with last year.
