AWNE Announces That the USDA Has Provided Grants to Four Projects Carrying the Company's Wind Turbines
Americas Wind Energy Corporation ("AWE”
or the "Company”)
(OTCBB: AWNE) is pleased to announce that the award by the USDA
included grants of $500,000 to each of four projects to rural businesses
in Iowa and Oregon that carried the Company’s
wind turbines for a total of seven AWE 900 kW wind turbines.
In his announcement, U.S. Agricultural Under Secretary for Rural
Development Thomas Dorr said, "These funds
will help create economic opportunity and reduce energy costs for
farmers, ranchers and small businesses in rural communities.”
One of these awards has resulted in an order for an AWE 900 kW wind
turbine for installation in 2008. AWE expects additional wind turbines
to be ordered in the next few weeks.
AWE expects that these awards and the resulting installation of AWE
direct drive wind turbines in rural U.S. locations will result in
increasing demand for AWE’s wind turbines,
providing distributed generation of clean renewable energy.
About Americas Wind Energy Corp.
AWE is focused on the manufacturing and marketing of medium-sized (900
kW) wind turbines for the North American market. AWE’s
strategy is to manufacture as much as possible in North America, with
the intention of providing both cost effectiveness and local content.
All of AWE’s projects to date have made use
of local tower manufacturers.
AWE is and intends to remain a virtual manufacturer. This means AWE
plans to subcontract the components of its wind turbines to qualified
manufacturers and manufacturing partners to achieve the best in quality
at the lowest cost. As a key part of the strategy of a virtual
manufacturer, AWE plans to maintain strict quality assurance programs
and quality control procedures for its subcontractors and partners.
