Avaya IP Telephony Solutions Take Center Stage at New Jersey's Prudential Center - Home of the N.J. Devils
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- When New Jersey's Prudential Center opens on October 25 with the first of ten concerts by Bon Jovi, the new state-of-the-art arena will have a state-of-the art communications network to match. Taking center stage are a host of new intelligent communications applications from Avaya Inc. , a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services.
Prudential Center, managed by AEG, is the first major sports and entertainment venue in the nation's top media market in over 25 years. It is the home of the New Jersey Devils, Seton Hall University men's basketball and the New Jersey Ironmen of the MISL. Prudential Center showcases 76 luxury suites, 2,330 club seats, and an array of amenities and conveniences for fans. It will seat 17,500 people for soccer games, 17,625 for hockey games, 18,500 for basketball games and 19,500 for concerts.
To serve the arena and the sports teams it will house, Avaya Platinum BusinessPartner Consultedge Inc. designed a communications solution based on Avaya Communication Manager IP telephony software and a host of powerful intelligent communications applications.
For example, field recruiters and other mobile employees will be able to use Avaya Extension to Cellular to have calls made to their desk phone ring on their cell phone as well - enabling them to be reached through a single number and to use a single voicemail inbox, whether they are in the office or away. Traveling executives will be able to use an Avaya IP Softphone application to turn their laptop into a remote communication hub for making, receiving and managing calls from a home office, hotel room or other remote site. With Avaya Modular Messaging they will be able to see incoming voicemail messages in their Microsoft Outlook inbox, play them in any order, and forward them just like an email message.
Session initiation protocol (SIP) "presence" capabilities enabled by Avaya Communication Manager will help arena and team personnel operate more productively by indicating when someone is in the office and available to take a call.
"As the first new sports and entertainment facility in this region in over 25 years, Prudential Center features a host of amenities that fans in this area have never seen before," said Dale Adams, general manager, Prudential Center. "The technology provided by Avaya is going to play a big role in our goal of making Prudential Center the most efficiently-run arena in the country."
In addition to the arena's communications network, Consultedge also designed a high-capacity data network for the Prudential Center that features switches from Extreme Networks and virtual private networking and firewall applications from Juniper Networks. Both Extreme Networks and Juniper Networks are Avaya AlliancePartners.
