ARC Advisory Group Names Pitney Bowes #1 Transportation Management System Supplier for Fifth Consecutive Year

Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE: PBI), the world’s leading mailstream solutions company, announced today that it has been named the leading global supplier of transportation management systems for the fifth consecutive year, according to a Transportation Management Systems Worldwide Outlook study by ARC Advisory Group. The ranking is based on revenue from software license, service, maintenance and recurring fees. According to the study, the Transportation Management Systems (TMS) market surpassed the $1 billion mark for the first time in 2006. Demand for TMS is growing because companies are realizing that cost increases and service level failures are inevitable unless they gain greater visibility and control of their transportation operations. "As ARC’s study indicates, gaining greater visibility and control of transportation operations is critical to the success of managing transportation costs and service,” said Johanna Boller, Vice President of Enterprise Software Product Management for Pitney Bowes Global Mailstream Solutions. "By consolidating our shipping products and services on our SendSuite™ platform, Pitney Bowes is providing our customers with powerful and more efficient mailstream and package management solutions to help meet their warehouse, mail center and desktop shipping needs.” "A key contributor to Pitney Bowes’ growth in 2006 was the successful launch of SendSuite™ Shipping Solutions,” said Adrian Gonzalez, Director of ARC's Logistics Executive Council. "SendSuite™ fulfilled a key objective for Pitney Bowes, which brought together the company’s shipping software capabilities for inbound and outbound functionality onto a single platform. This simplified the upgrade path for customers, as well as Pitney Bowes’ product development and support activities.” The ARC Market Outlook Study, entitled "Transportation Management Systems Worldwide Outlook: Market Analysis and Forecast Through 2011," reports that the market will exceed $1.5 billion by 2011, representing a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.3 percent. This forecast was adjusted upward from last year’s in light of several growth factors, including continued growth in e-commerce and international parcel shipments; and companies seeking greater control of desktop shipping. ARC segments the TMS market into six high-level solution types, including Planning & Execution, Parcel Shipping, and Fleet Management. Pitney Bowes became the market leader in 2003, due in part to its portfolio of parcel shipping, receiving, and mailstream solutions. The study also includes market data by solution type, geographic region, customer tier and vertical industry plus forecasts and supplier profiles.
