Anheuser-Busch Cans Water Instead Of Beer For Texas Flood Victims
(RTTNews) - Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV (BUD) has stopped producing beer at its Cartersville, Georgia brewery and is instead canning water for those affected by the recent flooding and storms in Texas and Oklahoma.
The company stopped beer production at its Cartersville brewery late Wednesday night to produce 50,000 cans of water for the American Red Cross. About 2,000 cases, each carrying 24 cans, are en route to communities in Texas and Oklahoma.
The efforts came after catastrophic flooding and severe weather impacted portions of Texas and Oklahoma over the Memorial Day weekend, killing at least 25 people and inundating hundreds of homes. At least 14 are reported missing.
This is not the first time Anheuser-Busch has supplied drinking water during natural calamities. The company claims it had donated more than 73 million cans of emergency drinking water following natural and other disasters since 1988.
