Andrew's Odyssey(TM) Software System Provides Cellular Operators with New Network Planning Capabilities

Odyssey 5.2, the highly robust and accurate network predictionsolution for wireless operators, enhances the Andrew Network Solutionsportfolio of measurement, radio and transmission planning, andautomated cell planning offerings for the entire network lifecycle.Innovative features unique to the new Odyssey 5.2 provide operatorswith added capabilities to accurately predict radio coverage, as wellas simulate and store many simultaneous versions of network designsfor conducting trials of "what if" network scenarios.

Odyssey is used by wireless operators worldwide and is backed upby Andrew's global customer support services.

Odyssey 5.2 builds upon functional flexibility and direct databaseaccess interfaces to provide operators with accuracy combined withpowerful customization of radio planning and optimization simulations.

One of the many new features of Odyssey 5.2 is scenario planning,which provides network operators more flexibility than they have everhad for radio planning. The concept of a scenario is similar tofrequency planning and neighbor planning, where multiple versions ofthe site database can be created to trial and store multiplesimultaneous radio parameter designs. This is done by copying thecurrent radio plan to a scenario and then planning each phase of acurrent and future network rollout, storing each phase as a uniquescenario. These scenarios can then be reviewed and the most optimumnetwork rollout plan selected.
