AmiNET130 Completes MPEGIF Logo Qualification Program for MPEG-4 AVC/H.264
Amino, the world leading IPTV platform supplier, today announced that
its AmiNET130 Set-Top Box (STB) is the first HD MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 IPTV
STB to meet the Premium Conformance Tier of the MPEGIF Logo
Qualification Program offered by the MPEG Industry Forum (MPEGIF).
MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 is a part of the MPEG-4 standard (MPEG-4 Part 10) and
enables the AmiNET130 to deliver video compression offering high quality
at low-bit rates. This effective compression technology offers excellent
results across a broad range of bandwidths including the transport of
High Definition (HD) streams for entertainment services and TV
broadcasting.
"We are welcoming Amino as a new member of
MPEGIF and are delighted that the HD MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 capable AmiNET130
IPTV STB has successfully participated in our MPEGIF Logo Qualification
Program,” said Sebastian Moeritz, President of
the MPEGIF.
"It is a pleasure to join MPEGIF, an
international non-for-profit organization championing the adoption of
MPEG standards,” said Dominique Le Foll, Vice
President of Engineering for Amino.
The AmiNET130 uses the latest innovations in video compression
technology to provide the optimum in HD quality using compressed video
data. This means users with low bandwidth speed available at their homes
can still benefit from a HD video experience. MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 gives as
high quality as MPEG-2 but with up to a half the data rate by using the
best compression technology available.
The AmiNET130 is an advanced STB enabling service providers to deliver
end-to-end digital High Definition TV as multicast, on-demand video and
multi-room IPTV services. The AmiNET130 is the world’s
first IP STB capable of displaying HD graphics for HD gaming.
About MPEG Industry Forum
The MPEG Industry Forum (www.mpegif.org),
the world’s largest advocacy group for MPEG
technologies, represents more than 40 international companies and
organizations from diverse industries and promotes the adoption of MPEG
standards. MPEGIF, founded in 2000, has played a significant role in
facilitating the widespread adoption and deployment of MPEG-4 AVC/H.264
as the industry’s standard video compression
technology powering next generation television and most mainstream
content delivery and consumption applications including packaged media.
MPEGIF, with more than 2500 people subscribed to its mailing lists,
serves as a single point of information on technology, products and
services for these standards, offers interoperability testing, a
conformance program, marketing activities and is present at
international trade shows and conferences.
MPEGIF is also running the MPOEGIF Logo Qualification Program, which is
designed to help guide interoperability among products and technology.
The program, based on a self-certification process, is free of charge
and open to all companies using MPEG technology, not just members of
MPEGIF although, membership is encouraged. Qualified products have the
right to display an MP4 Qualification Mark and also list their status in
their documentation, literature, and advertising. They will also have
their product listed in the MPEGIF Product Directory (http://logo.mpegif.org).
