American Equity Investment Posts Q3 Profit

(RTTNews) - American Equity Investment Life Holding Company (AEL), Monday reported third-quarter net income of $56.2 million or $0.75 per share, compared to net loss of $7.8 million or $0.13 per share last year.

Operating income for the quarter were $0.80 per share compared to $0.34 per share last year.

Total revenues for the quarter rose to $572.9 million from $503.9 million last year. Net investment income was $354.1 million compared to $318.6 million a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.45 per share on revenues of $345.21 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
