ACE Strengthens Environmental Risk Team as UK Prepares for New Legislation

ACE Europe (ACE) (NYSE:ACE) has further strengthened its environmental risk team with the appointment of Chris Strong as Environmental Risk Underwriter. This appointment comes in advance of the forthcoming implementation of the EU Environmental Liability Directive (‘ELD’) in the UK

Chris will have responsibility for underwriting the full range of ACE’s Environmental Risk products, as well as supporting business and product developments in this area. His appointment continues the growth of ACE’s environmental risk capabilities and follows the appointment of Emma Bartolo as Environmental Risk Underwriter in Manchester earlier this year.

Commenting on Chris’s appointment, Wayne Harrington, Environmental Risk Manager for the UK & Ireland, said: "The long-awaited implementation of the ELD will increase the level of regulatory focus on environmental risks, presenting the business community with very real liabilities as a result. Expanding the team at this time demonstrates our commitment to providing the required insurance solutions. It also reinforces our strength and stability in this changing market.”

Chris joins ACE from AIG, where he was an Environmental Underwriter. He has also worked as an Environmental Consultant at AIG Consultants. Prior to joining AIG, Chris worked at WSP Environmental Limited as a Consultant.
