3M Co. Earnings Advance 7% In Q1

(RTTNews) - 3M Co. (MMM) announced a profit for its first quarter that increased compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line came in at $1.28 billion, or $2.05 per share. This was up from $1.20 billion, or $1.85 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.92 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 2.2% to $7.41 billion. This was down from $7.58 billion last year.
