Turkey January Industrial Production Grows More Than Forecast
(RTTNews) - Turkey's industrial production increased at a significantly faster pace in January than expected by economists, latest data showed Monday.
Industrial production advanced a working-day adjusted 7.3 percent year-on-year in January, the Turkish Statistical Institute said. Economists had forecast a 2.9 percent growth.
Production in the manufacturing sector increased 7.8 percent annually, and mining production climbed 9.4 percent. Output of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning was higher by 3.5 percent than in January 2013.
Industrial production grew a seasonally adjusted 1.1 percent in January compared to December, the statistical office said.
